At John Roe, we believe it is so important to recognise and support great causes. The Macmillan Coffee Morning was no exception, and we’re thrilled to announce we have raised just under £1,000 for the charity.
It’s been 50 years since we opened our doors to customers, but one thing hasn’t changed – our support for charities, local projects and individuals. We believe it’s really important to take a step back and acknowledge what they do for others.
Macmillan Cancer Support offer emotional, physical and financial support to those affected by cancer, and is ran by supporters, professionals, volunteers, and campaigners who all have one thing in common – a care for people living with cancer.
The Coffee Morning is Macmillan's biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer and the money raised helps to make sure no one has to face it alone. On Friday 27th September, staff from all three John Roe dealerships put on their aprons to support the great cause.
In return for cake and a cuppa, we asked our customers for donations and were overwhelmed by the generosity. As well as a cake sale, we had a range of games, a raffle and more. With the help from our staff and the contributions from our customers, in just one day, the Hull site was able to raise £323, Scunthorpe raised £220 and Grimsby raised over £400.
In addition to national charity events, we’re always looking for ways to support local charities and those who shape the community we live in. Grimsby will be attending the the Heart of Your Community Awards next week, and sponsoring Volunteer of the Year to acknowledge the inspiring individuals who go above and beyond to help others.
Meanwhile the Hull team are regularly volunteering at North Ferriby Football Club and Scunthorpe John Roe is heavily involved with St Luke’s School for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
